In our continuous review process we have focused on finding exceptional quality wines that fit into the second level, above entry point, that in my opinion offer great value. Please do try some of these wines as, whilst they are not the cheapest, their quality will shine through, resulting in increased sales for all of us. The new wines that I recommend are from Vistamar- Chile, La Riada-Spain, Il Caggio- Italy, and Les Vignerons- France.
In the last few months we have started to detect a slight upturn in the sale of more expensive wines which is very encouraging and hopefully an indication that the recession might at last be behind us.France continues to offer a great choice in wines and whilst some are overpriced, there are a lot of interesting and new wines at the lower scale that are excellent and are worth trying. Try our Picpoul de Pinet, La Baume Viognier, Muscadet ‘Les Roches Noires’ - very different to what you may remember, and Chateau Carbonac- Corbieres- a delicious full bodied red. It is worth listing one or two of these wines as, apart from being different, they offer an alternative to the main stream varietals that drive our core volumes.
Our key focus at Tolchards is to lead with wine and we intend to continue to heavily invest in stock, warehousing and be innovative in the service we provide for wine listing and training. This year we have we have two new members in the wine team (Alan and Emma) who have considerable experience in the wine trade and have supported me in the rigorous process we undertake when selecting new wines to our portfolio. We are all available to help you grow your wines sales and provide support as required.
